CHATSWORTH, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- AVN Media Network, the largest and best known authority on the adult entertainment industry, today announced its partnership with VUDU, the award-winning on-demand set-top box and service.
"The AVN Adult Channel on VUDU is more than an inventory of adult movie titles. It's a shared passion for creating a unique consumer experience through technology and innovation. The partnership has created an entirely new platform from which adult movies can be enjoyed," said Darren Roberts, C.E.O., AVN Media Network.
The AVN Channel will include hundreds of the latest standard and high definition titles from the leading adult studios including Wicked, Vivid, Hustler, and many others. This is the first stand-alone content channel available on VUDU.
To celebrate the launch, the AVN Adult Channel includes free access to the 2008 AVN Adult Movie Awards in brilliant 1080p HD. The legendary 25th anniversary show, hosted by Tera Patrick and Greg Fitzsimmons, features special appearances by Artie Lange of the Howard Stern Show, Bubba the Love Sponge, Dave Navarro, Jenna Jameson and many other celebrities.
"Digital distribution is the future of the movie industry and VUDU is the clear leader in creating a superior user experience," said Roberts. "For the last 25 years, adult movie fans have looked to AVN to provide movie reviews and buying recommendations. Now, consumers will have instant access to this information and the corresponding movies through an easy to use interface on their televisions."
VUDU's on-demand movie set-top box and service gives movie fans the ultimate in flexibility and choice. By connecting directly to an HDTV and the Internet, VUDU provides instant access to more than 6,000 Hollywood and independent films, TV episodes, and now adult programming in both standard and high definition formats.
The AVN Adult Channel includes all the functionalities available in the award-winning VUDU interface plus an advanced discovery engine useful when searching by genre or studio. Standard definition adult movies are available for rental at $6.99 and for purchase at $19.99. High definition adult movies are available for rental at $8.99 and for purchase at $29.99. Consumers can take advantage of VUDU's safe and discreet billing system and avoid risky online transactions.
AVN is a strong advocate of shielding children from adult content. The service includes robust parental controls. VUDU customers interested in watching adult movies can sign up online during the account set-up process or in their account management area on VUDU.com. Once the AVN Channel is enabled, password-protected privacy controls must be activated in order to access the service from the TV.
